Hello all.
I'm new to blogging so bare with me. Thanks for your patience in advance.
I have always been very passionate about the human body. At a young age I knew I wanted to do something with it for my career. By the 7th grade I knew I wanted to be an Orthopedic surgeon. I worked very hard the rest of my grade school years to get the right grades for this.
I started my college career at Colorado Mountain College in Leadville, Colorado. I received my associates of science degree in biology there. I transferred to the University of Colorado at Denver. I started my path there majoring in biology.
My first semester in, my Grandmother got very sick. She was in the hospital and one afternoon the nurse came and told my aunt that she was being discharged as the insurance company wasn't paying for the services anymore. She was taken home and by morning she had died. This had a monumental impact on me. First, I had lost my Grandma. She was the biggest inspiration on my career path. A nurse herself back when women had to work super hard to get anywhere in a career. Secondly, I started having serious doubts about my career prospects. Why was I going to go to school for another 13 years only to be told by an insurance company that my patient couldn't have that surgery because it wasn't covered? I had a real moment of crisis because hey I was going to do this since I was 12 years old! I kept on at CU Denver and in my second semester I had a psychology class.
Psychology was amazing. I loved trying to figure out the brain and why people do what they do. By the time I was in my third semester I decided to change my major to psychology. I graduated from University of Colorado Denver with a bachelor degree of science in psychology. Now I had to figure out what I was going to do with my life.
I toyed with physicians assistant, nurse, and some others, but always ended up back at why? I then got to looking at a doctor of naturopathic medicine. This seemed to fit my needs better. I decided to pursue that. I found an online school and I applied and was on my way. While doing this school I took on a full time job at the local clerk and recorder office. This job quickly became taxing on my energy levels. It was high detail and extremely stressful. Because of this I slowed way down on school. It took me longer to get my Masters than anticipated. It also cost me the doctorate because the school went through a turmoil and closed before I could finish taking my money with it...
I continued to work at the Clerk and Recorder office for 13 years and became the Chief Deputy and the head of elections. I found Institute of Integrative Nutrition and applied for it. Taking a loan from my mom to pay for it. My husband took over the duties around the house. By having that support system I was able to get done and get my certification.
I quit the clerks job when elections became too divisive and the stress levels were literally killing me. I helped my husband at his shop until 2020 when covid hit. I attempted appraisals, but the red tape of the state stopped me in my tracks there.
I decided I should finally use my psychology and health degrees. It is my passion and I love to work with others to make them feel good about themselves and have energy to do life.
I will be doing a series of blogs on the basics of nutrition, but I'm hoping that you will decide on going more in depth and we can get exclusive to your needs.
